What it costs
How much does house cleaning cost in Fort Worth?
Nobody can give you an honest number from a square footage figure alone. Here is what a cleaning company is actually calculating, so you can tell a real quote from a guess.

What a cleaning quote is really pricing
Cleaning is priced on labor hours. Everything else — square footage, bathroom count, pets, condition — is a proxy for how many hours the property will take. Once you understand that, the whole thing becomes legible, and you can spot which quotes were produced by someone thinking about your house and which came off a chart.
The single most common mistake customers make is comparing two quotes as if they described the same work. They usually do not. One may assume a standard visit; the other may have assumed a deep clean. One may include inside the oven; the other may not. Ask what is included before comparing numbers.
The six things that move the number most
Roughly in order of impact for a typical Fort Worth home.
1. Bathroom count
Bathrooms are the slowest rooms in any house. A three-bed, three-bath home takes longer than a four-bed, two-bath home of the same size. Bathroom count is often a better predictor than square footage.
2. Condition and time since last clean
The biggest swing factor. A home cleaned two weeks ago is maintenance; a home cleaned eight months ago is a reclamation job. This is what separates a standard visit from a deep clean.
3. Square footage
Sets the baseline for vacuuming, mopping and dusting, but it scales gently. A larger living room is still one room with one set of surfaces.
4. Clutter on surfaces
Cleaning around objects is slower than cleaning open counters. It is entirely normal to have things out; it simply takes time to work around them.
5. Pets
Shedding coats put hair into baseboard edges, stair treads and upholstery seams. Workable, but it has to be planned for rather than discovered.
6. Floor type and mix
Tile with grout lines, long hardwood runs and luxury vinyl plank all take longer than the equivalent area of carpet. Homes with three or four floor types need multiple passes.
Service type changes the number more than anything else
Before you compare prices, be sure you are comparing the same service. These are genuinely different jobs, not tiers of one job.
- [Standard cleaning](/residential-cleaning/house-cleaning) — maintaining a home already in reasonable condition. The baseline.
- [Deep cleaning](/residential-cleaning/deep-cleaning) — removing months of buildup. Commonly two to three times a standard visit.
- [Move-out cleaning](/residential-cleaning/move-out-cleaning) — an empty property to an inspection standard, including oven, refrigerator and cabinet interiors.
- [Move-in cleaning](/residential-cleaning/move-in-cleaning) — an empty property, prioritizing interiors before furniture arrives.
- [Post-construction cleaning](/specialty-cleaning/post-construction-cleaning) — staged passes for construction dust. A different discipline entirely.
Frequency lowers the per-visit rate permanently
Recurring residential schedules with Hygiene Maids of Fort Worth carry a standing discount: 20% off weekly, 15% off biweekly, 10% off monthly. It applies from the first scheduled visit and holds for as long as the schedule runs. It is not an introductory rate.
The reason it exists is that a maintained home genuinely takes less labor per visit, and a repeating route costs less to run than scattered one-off bookings. Both savings are real, so they are passed on rather than presented as a promotion.
Worth being clear about the arithmetic, though: weekly's larger discount does not make weekly cheaper in total. You are buying about twice as many visits. What you get is a lower rate per visit and a house that never leaves a good state.
Fort Worth specifics that affect quotes here
Hard water. North Texas water leaves mineral deposits on shower glass, chrome and stainless. In a home where nobody has dried the shower glass for years, removing that scale is a real block of time and it usually pushes a first visit into deep-clean territory.
Long pollen seasons. Spring in Tarrant County loads vents, blinds, fan blades and window sills fast. Homes that skip cleaning through spring often need more time in early summer than they expect.
The housing stock varies enormously. A 1920s Fairmount bungalow with original tile and wood windows, a 1960s Wedgwood ranch with long baseboard runs, and a new build in Walsh with plank floors throughout are three genuinely different jobs at the same square footage.
How to get a quote you can actually rely on
- 1Give an accurate bedroom and bathroom count, including half baths. Half baths are quick but they are not free.
- 2Say honestly when the home was last cleaned professionally. Underselling this guarantees a visit that runs out of time.
- 3Mention pets, and roughly how much they shed.
- 4List anything you want that is outside a standard scope — inside the oven, inside the refrigerator, interior windows, laundry, wall washing.
- 5Say whether you want a one-time visit or a schedule, because the rate differs.
- 6Ask what is explicitly excluded. A provider who names exclusions clearly is easier to work with than one who agrees to everything.
Questions
Common questions about cost
- Why will nobody quote a flat rate over the phone?
- Because cleaning is priced on hours, and two homes with identical square footage can need very different amounts of time. A company that quotes a flat rate sight unseen is either padding heavily to protect itself or planning to leave when the time runs out.
- Is deep cleaning worth the extra over a standard visit?
- For a first visit on a home that has not been cleaned in six months or more, yes — otherwise the first several standard visits spend their time on backlog. For a home already in good condition, no. Book the standard visit.
- Do recurring discounts apply to the initial deep clean?
- The recurring discount applies to scheduled recurring visits. An initial deep clean is a separate service, quoted on its own.
- What add-ons cost the most time?
- Inside the oven and inside the refrigerator are the two big ones — each can take an hour on its own. Interior windows across a whole house is the third.
- Is a bigger house always more expensive?
- Usually, but not proportionally. Bathroom count, condition and clutter move the number more sharply than floor area does.
