Two things people get wrong
Booking a move-out clean before the property is empty. Half a truckload still in the hallway means surfaces get done twice, and the places an inspector opens first — cabinet interiors, closet floors, the gap behind the refrigerator — are precisely the ones still under boxes. Take the tighter day and schedule after the movers.
Assuming a professionally cleaned listing means you can skip a move-in clean. Pre-sale and handover cleans are usually surface passes aimed at photographs and walk-throughs. They rarely include the inside of cabinetry, the inside of appliances or closet floors. Ask what was actually done rather than assuming.
Booking both in the same week
Plenty of customers book a move-out clean on the property they are leaving and a move-in clean on the one they are taking. Sequencing them together makes the week easier.

Common questions
- Will a move-out clean guarantee my deposit back?
- No cleaning company can promise that, and one that does is worth being cautious about. A deposit also covers damage, repairs, unpaid rent and lease terms that have nothing to do with how clean the place is. What this service does is take cleaning off the list entirely.
- Is a move-in clean the same as a deep clean?
- They overlap but are not the same. A deep clean works around belongings in an occupied home. A move-in clean assumes an empty property and prioritizes interiors that only become reachable when a home is empty.
- Which one is more expensive?
- Move-out is often the larger job, because it has to reach an inspection standard on a property that has been lived in for years. But condition drives it more than the label does.
- Can a landlord book the move-out clean instead of the tenant?
- Yes. When an owner or manager books it, the goal usually shifts from deposit protection to relisting — that is rental property turnover.
